Mexico is the home to some of the highest mountains in North America. The volcanic El Pico de Orizaba also known by the native name of Citlaltépetl is the third highest mountain in North America at 18,490 feet (5,636 meters).
This and other Mexican mountains have permanent glaciers that attract ski mountaneers in search of spectacular scenery and unmatched vertical descent.
The only Mexican ski and snowboard resort is Monterrey in the state of Cohauila. Monterrey (11,811 ft/3,600 m) is open for snow activities all year round.
